Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 3/4 cup chopped dates
- ½ cup banana
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon apple pie spice
- ½ teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 cups beer
Steps
- Cream the butter and sugar together in a bowl.
- Add the eggs, beating well after each addition. Stir in the nuts and dates. Sift the flour, salt, soda and spices together.
- Fold in the flour alternately with the beer and banana, beginning and ending with the flour. Pour into a greased tin pan.
- Bake in a preheated moderate oven 350 dg F, for 1 hour or until a fine skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Invert cake on to a wire rack and cool.
